HISTORY

Friendship Missionary Baptist Church has been in existence for 110 years. After the division of First Baptist Church, Brighton, members of the community recognized the need for another Baptist church in the Brighton area. Friendship Missionary Baptist Church was organized underneath a brush harbor on Huntsville Avenue. In later years, the church was blessed with property donated by Mrs. White. Work began under the leadership of Rev. E.L. Chandler where the church was relocated to White Street. A wood framed church was built and the members served the Lord diligently.

Early pastors included: Rev. R. Cooper, Coleman, G.N. Dixon, Lane, Tate, Ravizee, Barlow, L.W. Quins, W.M. Molten, H.L. Parker, L.L. Ruffin, W.J. Sankey, Sr. and currently C.E. Hollingsworth.
